RAD 2504 - Radiographic Procedures IV 4 Credits This course provides instruction in the radiographic positioning of structures and organs of the human body and is a continuation of RAD 1803 Radiographic Procedures III . Positioning and instruction include contrast arthrography, myelography, reproductive system, bone densitometry, trauma, mobile, surgical, geriatric radiography, and additional imaging modalities. Skills lab activities are integrated throughout the lab component of this course.
Prerequisite: RAD 1803 Radiographic Procedures III , RAD 2002 Clinical Education III
Corequisite: RAD 1813 Radiographic Exposure , RAD 2603 Clinical Education IV
Course Level Objectives 1. Identify medications and related medication information required for invasive procedures. (PLO 6, 7, 8)
2. Prioritize appropriate emergency responses that may occur during a radiographic procedure. (PLO 2, 6, 7)
3. Demonstrate surgical asepsis required for invasive procedures. (PLO 3, 8)
4. Select specialized items required for each radiographic examination (PLO 4, 8)
5. Evaluate radiographic images according to specific exam criteria. (PLO 4, 8)
6. Distinguish proper techniques and use of devices specific for injection of radiographic contrast materials. (PLO 3, 4, 8)
7. Determine appropriate manipulation techniques for surgical radiography. (PLO 3, 4, 8)
8. Predict the variation of patient care, pathologies, and interactions between pediatric and geriatric patients for age specific competencies. (PLO 1, 2, 5, 6, 8)
