Admissions Policy


As a comprehensive community college, the faculty and staff at NPC are here to serve students who aspire to change their lives and the lives of their families through completion of specific courses, certificates, and/or degrees which lead to professional employment or advanced degrees at a transfer university. The National Park College Admissions Office, Academic Advisors, and Registrar Office are responsible for evaluating applications, transcripts, test scores, and other documentation to determine the acceptance and enrollment level of all first-time, degree-seeking applicants.

Admission to the college does not ensure acceptance into a particular program of study. No one shall be denied admission based upon race, sex, color, national origin, ethnicity, age, marital status, religion, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other factors prohibited by law. Those applicants who do not qualify for acceptance may be eligible for Alternative Placement working toward college acceptance.

Acceptance Options

Unconditional Admissions
Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Must have completed the high school core curriculum and graduated from high school, received a GED, or graduated through home schooling or from a private high school.
  • Must present one set of the following test scores:
    • American College Test (ACT) minimum scores:
      • Composite 19
      • English 19
      • Reading 19
      • Mathematics 21
    • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) minimum scores
      • Total 990
      • Writing and reading 510
      • Mathematics 530
    • Accuplacer: minimum scores:
      • Average of reading, writing, and math scores 246
      • Writing 256 and Reading 252
      • Mathematics 264

OR

  • In the lieu of test scores, a student may show proof of have college credit for English Composition I and College Algebra and passed with a grade of C or higher.

Conditional Admissions

  • Must have completed the high school core curriculum and graduated from high school, received a GED, or graduated through home schooling or from a private high school.
  • Must present one set of the following test scores:
    • American College Test (ACT) minimum scores:
      • Composite 15
      • Reading 14
    • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) minimum scores:
      • Total 830
      • Writing and Reading 420
    • Accuplacer minimum scores:
      • Reading 224

If a student does not meet these qualifications and has only taken the ACT or SAT, they are encouraged to take the Accuplacer.

Alternative Placement

Students who do not meet the minimum ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer reading score and do not qualify for acceptance will be contacted by Admissions to retake the Accuplacer. If the minimum Accuplacer score is not attained, students are asked to enroll in NPC’s Adult Basic Education and GED Center. Students admitted into alternative placement must successfully complete basic education courses and demonstrate a readiness for transitional/developmental college coursework by retesting on the Accuplacer or an equivalent test and earning at least the minimum scores for acceptance. Alternative placement students are not eligible to apply for Title IV federal financial aid at NPC.
