EGR 1132 - Engineering Graphics 2 Credits This course is a general study of graphics and the types of engineering drawings used in design. A foundation course in lettering, geometrical exercises, orthographic projections, including auxiliary views, sections, pictorial representation. The computer is introduced as a drafting tool.
This course addresses the basic concepts of drafting communication, fundamentals of technical drawing and introduction to computer-aided design (CAD) with a focus on mechanical applications. Subjects include but may not be limited to line types, orthographic projections, sectioning, language, auxiliary views, pictorial drawings, scale, geometric dimensioning, and descriptive geometry with applications to engineering.
Lab work includes hand sketching and the use of CAD systems. Students use one or more CAD software packages to draft and model various objects. Introductory use of CAD software is an integral part of the course therefore students are required to have access to a computer.
