CIS 1623 - Network Security 3 Credits This course provides the student with the knowledge necessary to manage security threats for computer systems. The following knowledge domains are addressed: 1) Identity Management and Authentication; 2) Physical and Network Security; 3) Host and Application Defense; 4) Data Security; 5) Audit and Security Assessment

Prerequisite: CIS 1063 Intro to Networking & Cyber Security
Corequisite: CIS 1613 Networking
Course Level Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate against variety of attacks. (PLO 1, 4, 5)
- Design security policy. (PLO 4, 5, 6, 7)
- Develop an incident response strategy. (PLO 1, 4, 5, 6, 7)
- Demonstrate competency in Network Security as measured by a certification-based industry-standard competency exam.. (PLO 1, 4, 6)
