ENG 1133 - Technical Writing* 3 Credits Technical Writing is designed for students pursuing careers in technical and vocational fields. Technical papers include process analysis, description of a mechanism, definition, analysis by partition, comparison/contrast, and
cause/effect. Considerable research is expected for technical papers, articles, summaries, and a full research report, all of which are on topics related to the student’s major. Use of visuals and technical paper layout is covered. Grammar, mechanics, and usage are covered as needed
Course Level Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the principles and conventions of technical report writing, including structure, style, and audience awareness. (GEO 1,3)
- Demonstrate ethical research and writing practices, including proper citation, avoidance of plagiarism, and responsible use of AI tools. (GEO 4)
- Develop clear, concise, and well-organized technical documents that effectively communicate complex information. (GEO 3)
- Apply data analysis and visualization techniques to support findings and recommendations in technical reports. (GEO 2)
- Demonstrate effective oral and visual presentation skills, including summarizing technical content for diverse audiences. (GEO 4)
