HA 2322 - Resort and Event Management 2 Credits This course will discuss the management of event-based operations from sales, planning, marketing, and delivery. Will include best practices for guest services and experiences, to sustainability planning and promotion, and legal considerations. Includes presentations and workshops with industry experts and will require off-site travel.
Course Level Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the unique operational components of resorts and event venues, including accommodations, food and beverage, recreation, and guest services. (GEO 3)
- Identify foundational concepts and terminology in resort and event management, including industry structure, key sectors, and career opportunities. (GEO 3)
- Demonstrate application of event planning principles, including program design, scheduling, budgeting, and logistics. (GEO 3)
- Apply customer service and guest relations strategies to enhance client and participant satisfaction in resort and event settings. (GEO 3)
- Identify and implement safety, legal, and regulatory practices affecting resorts and events, including risk management and compliance standards. (GEO 3)
