OREC 2012 - Introduction to Outdoor Recreation

This course is designed to introduce students to the outdoor recreation field, key concepts, and employment opportunities. The course will provide direct interaction with industry professionals and insight into real-world applications.

Course Level Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Discuss the variety of careers associated with outdoor recreation, and identify the education and certification needs to pursue these careers. (PLO 6)
Identify major state and local outdoor recreation resources, environments, and activities, and describe their social and economic impact. (PLO 2)
Correlate the relationship between recreation and quality of life, including its effect on physical, mental, and social well-being. (PLO 6)
Explain the importance of Leave No Trace principles in the industry of outdoor recreation. (PLO 1)
