WLD 1314 - Introduction to Welding II

4 Credits

Welding II expands upon the foundational skills developed in Welding I, focusing on advanced welding techniques and increased technical proficiency. Students will further develop their abilities in shielded metal arc welding. Emphasis is placed on weld quality, inspection, and troubleshooting using both destructive and non-destructive testing methods. The lab component provides extensive hands-on experience through increasingly complex projects that simulate industry standards and real-world applications. Upon completion, students will be prepared for higher-level welding tasks, continued certification training, and enhanced employability within the welding industry. The curriculum aligns with American Welding Society standards.

Prerequisite: WLD 1214 WLD 1214 - Introduction to Welding I

Identify and use hand and power tools as well as measuring devices. (PLO 2, 3, 4)
Demonstrate proper SMAW welding techniques in all positions on ferrous metals. (PLO 3, 4, 5)
Demonstrate professional workplace behaviors and communication skills required for employment. (PLO 2,3,4,5)
