INDT 2103 - Applied Construction Capstone

This course provides students with an opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge, and work habits developed throughout their construction program in a comprehensive, real-world project. Students take on advanced roles in planning, estimating, scheduling, and executing residential or light commercial construction projects while emphasizing safety, quality, and teamwork. The course focuses on integrating multiple trades-such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing-into a coordinated build process that mirrors industry standards. Students will develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills as they manage projects from design to completion. This capstone experience prepares students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, or entry-level employment in the construction industry.

Prerequisite: INDT 1123 INDT 1123 - Plumbing, Electrical, & Construction Maintenance

Pre or Corequisite: INDT 1133 INDT 1133 - Carpentry

Course Level Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Develop and implement a comprehensive job-site safety plan that aligns with OSHA standards.(PLO 1)
Plan, organize, and manage a complete construction project from concept to completion, including scheduling, material selection, and budgeting.(PLO 2, 5)
Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to coordinate multi-trade construction tasks.(PLO 4, 5, 6)
Estimate quantities, costs, and labor requirements for residential or light commercial construction projects using industry-standard methods.(PLO 3)
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in at least one construction trade area (e.g., carpentry, electrical, or plumbing). (PLO 7)
