LAD 9033 - Foundations of Writing3 Credits Foundations of Writing is a three-hour course for students who students who scored below 16 on the ACT or 66 on the writing portion of the COMPASS. It is designed to review and teach basic grammar and punctuation skills to prepare students for college work. Topics will include the parts of speech and their use, sentence types and construction, and paragraph development. Vocabulary building will also be included. To successfully complete Foundations, a student must score 78 or above on the writing portion of the COMPASS and pass all coursework with a cumulative grade of C or better.
