LAD 9043 - Foundations of Reading3 Credits
This course is designed for students scoring 12-18 on the ACT or 51-76 on the Reading portion of the Compass Test. The course deals with comprehension, vocabulary and reading rate. While the course is highly individualized and structured around the specific needs of each student there will be lectures and group activities. The majority of the work will be done in the reading lab. Upon completion of the course the student must retake the Reading portion of the Compass Test: a score below 76 will require them to repeat the course, a score of 77-82 will place them in READ 1113 - Speed Reading and a score above 82 will allow them to enter the core curriculum.
