SUR 1105 - Surgical Technology I & Clinical5 Credits
This course is an introduction to the principles, procedures and techniques of surgical procedures with emphasis on surgical asepsis. This course introduces concepts of professional ethics, communication techniques, and legal requirements. Opportunities are provided for the student to demonstrate basic skills in the clinical and laboratory setting. Students are introduced to the physical environment of the operating suite and will have experiences in the care and use of instruments and surgical supplies, as well as the opportunity to scrub for surgical procedures.
Prerequisites: Departmental approval.
