ART 1003 - Ceramics I 3 Credits Ceramics I is an introduction to studio ceramics. Various clay forming techniques, as well as decorative processes, are introduced to explore the making of functional and nonfunctional forms. Topics such as historical and contemporary ceramics as well as critical thought are addressed through presentations, demonstrations, critiques and projects. This is a hands-on course that is designed to give a well-rounded foundation for further exploration in clay art. Other studio practices such as loading and firing various kilns will be conducted with supervision.
