- In partnership with National Park College (NPC), the University of Arkansas Hope ‐ Texarkana (UAHT) offers the Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service Education (FSE) on the campus of NPC. The FSE program includes General Education courses offered by NPC and FSE core courses offered by UAHT on the NPC campus or online. In addition to being offered via CV on the NPC campus, the AAS in Funeral Service Education courses are offered online.
- Upon completion of the program, the degree will be conferred by UAHT.
- The Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service Education at the University of Arkansas Hope - Texarkana is accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE), 992 Mantua Pike, Suite 108, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097 (816) 233-3747. Web: www.abfse.org.
- Prerequisite courses and/or developmental courses may need to be taken in addition to this suggested plan of study.
- NPC General Education Core and UAHT prerequiste courses must be completed prior to admission to the Funeral Service Program which starts once a year in the summer semester.
- Students are required to visit the UAHT campus one day during the third semester of the program and a minimum of one week at the end of the final semester to complete Restorative Art, Funeral Directing, and Embalming compentencies. Travel and loding are the student’s responsbility.
- At the completion of the coursework for the Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service Education, each student is eligible to take the National Board Examination administered by the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards, Inc.
UAHT Admissions Requirements
Admission to UAHT does not mean automatic admission to the Funeral Service Education program. Enrollment to the program is subject to specific program admission requirements and to college admission requirements. In addition:
- A grade of “C” or higher is required for all NPC General Education courses.
- A grade of “C” or higher is required in any course with an FSED prefix or the course must be repeated.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is expected at the end of each semester to remain in FSE courses.
