The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Outdoor Recreation offers an exciting pathway for students who want to combine a spirit of adventure with career opportunities in one of Arkansas’s largest and fastest-growing industries. Employment options in this field are wide-ranging and include positions in park services, recreation guiding, manufacturing, tourism, hospitality, and more. The program is structured to provide students with the skills needed to enter the workforce with a two-year degree while also offering transferable credits for those who wish to continue toward a bachelor’s degree. With its uniquely hands-on curriculum, this program is ideal for students who enjoy the outdoors, value self-reliance and hard work, and prefer a career outside the traditional office setting.
NPC Outdoor Recreation Graduation Requirement
A cumulative average of C (2.0) is required for graduation for all NPC programs.

First Year Experience - 1 Credit Hour
Required for all new NPC students General Education Core - 22 Credit Hours
Outdoor Recreation Core - 17 Credit Hours
Outdoor Recreation Tracts - 8-12 Credit Hours
Select one tract of your interest. Two may be selected if they don’t exceed 20 hours total. Tracts will confer a Certificate of Proficiency upon completion. Marine Engine Maintenance Fundamentals - 12 Credit Hours
Mountain Biking & Trail Maintenance - 9 Credit Hours
Outdoor Maintenance - 8 Credit Hours
Outdoor Recreation Activities - 8 Credit Hours
Outdoor Recreation Management - 11 Credit Hours
Tourism & Hospitality - 8 Credit Hours
Outdoor Recreation Electives - 8-12 Credit Hours
If only one CP tract was selected, choose 8-12 hours from the courses below, not already taken, to complete a total of 60 credit hours. 60 Credit Hours
