The networking curriculum prepares students for entry-level employment in Information Technology (IT). Information Technology involves giving technical support computer systems and networking. Coursework includes courses in computer hardware maintenance, networking and communication basics, Microsoft and Linux networking, and general education including communications, math and social sciences. Students are prepared for career opportunities in design, support and maintenance of complex network infrastructures . All courses listed in the catalog are required, but the sequence of courses taken is based on what is best to succeed, availability, and the necessity for prerequisites.
The AAS Program is primarily intended for those interested in a hardware maintenance and networking career. Completion of the recommended courses leads to the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems with an emphasis in networking. Consequently, some courses in this program may not transfer to all senior institutions. Students who plan to transfer to a senior institution are strongly advised to correspond with the institution to which they plan to transfer. Completion of the required courses prepares the student for a position as a qualified and autonomous network administrator.
In the Business Division curricula, courses prerequisite to another class require a minimum grade of C in order to advance to the next course.

Purpose of AAS Degree
The Associate of Applied Science Degree is designed for employment purposes, and it should not be assumed that the degree or the courses in the degree can be transferred to another institution. While some institutions do accept some courses in A.A.S. Programs, the general rule is that courses in A.A.S. Degrees are not accepted in transfer toward bachelor’s degrees. Students to whom transfer is important should get assurances in writing in advance from the institution to which they wish to transfer.
