Social Work, ASLAS for Transfer to UALR Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSW)

The curriculum is designed for persons who plan to obtain an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences (ASLAS) in Social Work at National Park College (NPC) and transfer to the University of Arkansas Little Rock (UALR) to complete a Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSW). Students should be aware that prerequisite courses and/or developmental courses may need to be taken in addition to this suggested plan of study.

NOTE:  
The UALR BSW program will accept PSYC 2013 Developmental Psychology*  to satisfy 3 hours of upper level related field elective credit. However, this course will transfer in as a lower level elective and will not replace the UALR Developmental Psychology course for other majors. It will transfer in as a lower level elective only.

The UALR BSW program will accept PSYC 2163 Abnormal Psychology  to satisfy the requirement for Abnormal Psychology. However, this course will transfer in as a lower level elective and will not replace the UALR Abnormal Psychology course for other majors.  It will transfer in as a lower level elective only.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • The student must complete the requirements necessary for general admission to UALR as well as specific admission to the UALR BSW program
  • The student will have earned the Associate of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences at NPC
  • Degree program admission requirements for students who transfer will be determined in the same manner as if their initial enrollment had been at UALR

Admission Requirements specific to UALR BSW Program

  • Successfully complete the ASLAS program
  • Successfully complete all three prerequisite courses (or the NPC equivalent) with a grade of C or better:  SOWK 1301 (SOC 2223) Introduction to Social Work; SOCI 2300 (SOC 1103) Introduction to Sociology; and PSYC 2300 (PSYC 1103) Psychology and the Human Experience
  • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA as well as a 2.5 GPA in the social work prerequisite courses
  • Students must maintain a 2.5 overall GPA as well as a 2.5 GPA for social work courses
