CIS 1623 - Network Security

3 Credits
This course provides the student with the knowledge necessary to manage security threats for computer systems.  The following knowledge domains are addressed: 1) Identity Management and Authentication; 2) Physical and Network Security; 3) Host and Application Defense; 4) Data Security; 5) Audit and Security Assessment

Course Availability: Offered Spring Semester Only

Prerequisite: CIS 1063 Intro to Networking & Cyber Security  

Corequisite: CIS 1612 Networking  

Course Level Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate against variety of attacks. (PLO 1, 4, 5)
  2. Design security policy. (PLO 4, 5, 6, 7)
  3. Develop an incident response strategy. (PLO 1, 4, 5, 6, 7)
  4. Demonstrate competency in Network Security as measured by a certification-based industry-standard competency exam.. (PLO 1, 4, 6)
