RAD 2913 - Radiographic Seminar

3 Credits
This course is a culmination of course materials presented throughout the program. Students will participate in simulated registry examinations to prepare for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registry
examination taken at the completion of the program. Students will prove themselves competent to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registry examination by taking many mock exams throughout the semester.

Prerequisite: RAD 1813 Radiographic Exposure RAD 2504 Radiographic Procedures IV RAD 2603 Clinical Education IV  

Corequisite: RAD 2703 Clinical Education V RAD 2902 Image Quality and Acquisition II   

Course Level Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Assess student learning and preparedness for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification board with content specific “mock registry” exams. (PLO 12)
  2. Prioritize the essential components of patient care and management expected of radiographers. (PLO 2, 8)
  3. Identify anatomy and radiologic findings for head, spine, pelvis, thorax, abdomen, and extremity procedures and evaluate for accuracy and technical factor selection. (PLO 1, 6, 7)
  4. Determine appropriate radiation protection practices used in selected patient situations and summarize the biological effects of ionizing radiation. (PLO 5)
  5. Compare and contrast the various X-ray interactions with matter and classify radiation quantities and units. (PLO 10 )
  6. Identify the different target interactions that happen at the anode. (PLO 10, 11)
  7. Create and label all parts of the x-ray tube as well as the x-ray circuit. (PLO 11)
  8. Recognize the prime factors involved in x-ray technology and the mathematical formulas that assist in developing imaging techniques (PLO 6, 7)
  9. Evaluate the process of digital image data formation, identifying critical factors that affect data integrity and accuracy. (PLO 11)
