CIS 1031 - Computer Math1 Credits This course gives students the math skills they will need to succeed in a career in Information Technology. Topics include computations involving decimal (base 10), octal (base 8), binary (base 2), and hexadecimal (base 16) number systems; addition and subtraction in all number systems; base 10 prefixes (tera, giga, mega, kilo, hecto, deca, deci, centi, milli, micro, nano, pico) and their numeric values in other systems. A brief study of logic is included, with particular emphasis given to logical operators AND, OR, NOT, XOR, and their corresponding truth tables. The particulars of subnet masking will also be examined.
Prerequisites: ACT Math of 18 or ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra of 76-108 or College Math of 10-62 or LAD 9014 Foundations of College Math 1 with a grade of “C” or better.
